SELF DEFENSE MOVES AND TECHNIQUES:

The world is a scary place. It seems that everywhere you go crime is running rampant and folks are being victimized at an alarming rate. Today more than ever you need to know self defence moves to effectively defend yourself and your loved ones against would be attackers.

SELF DEFENSE MOVES:

One of the most effective self-defence techniques is to your outlook and attitude. If you look scared you will have more trouble than if you look confident. A would be attacker is less likely to continue an assault if you look him straight in the eye and act sure of yourself.

Don't wait for the attacker to get the upper hand. If you are somewhat aggressive towards your attacker and proactive, you are more likely to ward off the attack.

You need to learn the most vulnerable parts of the attacker's body, where you can hurt him the most with the least amount of force. Those areas, in no particular order are the eyes, the ears, the groin and the jaw. A stab or punch or jab to those areas is likely to disable the attacker.

You can quickly kick him in the groin, which will cause severe pain and bring even the most muscle bound man down. Your fingers jabbing the soft tissue of the eye should blind the person at least temporarily. Cupping your hands and slapping both ears will cause him a loss of equilibrium and give you time to run and a quick hard palm to the jaw if landed can provide enough momentary pain to allow you to run.

The objective in self-defence moves is not to kill the attacker but to disable him long enough for you to make an escape to a safe area. The above named moves should allow you anything from a few seconds to several minutes to leave. You can also combine the moves to make it more effective by using a groin kick and as he is going down a strike to the eyes should give you a longer escape time and keep you safe. Again the object of these moves is to disable so you can leave them on the ground as you run to safety.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO LEARN THESE SELF DEFENSE TECHNIQUES:

Aside from the obvious reason, which is to keep you safe, you need to learn these self-defence techniques so they become second nature. When someone attacks you any second or portion of a second can man the difference between actually surviving and becoming a victim. Remember that you want your response to the attacker's moves to be automatic. If he goes to grab you then your response to that move should be automatic and a reflex. If you have to stop and think about what you are going to then you have already lost a major portion of the battle.

It doesn't matter what gender you are or how big or how small you are. You are liable to become a victim of an attack at any time that you are out in public and even in some cases in your own home. If you can remember to keep your eyes moving and look around you and not be lost in something else you may not see any danger that might be in your immediate area and once you see it you can either avoid it or be prepared to deal with it.

Awareness is always key in self-defence.
