I have a simple philosophy for life "It is a journey". Along this road of our life journey is where we pick up all our knowledge and experiences in life. This knowledge is known as maturity. With every decision you make in life you are given choices in getting there; The long road or the short cut. Which leaves us into the fifth most common denominator in people failing and that is taking the short cut.

You will see the people that take the short cut option are the ones that don't live by any sustainable values. Love, integrity and honesty are values that they have never heard of. These are the corrupt businessmen and women. The liars and cheaters. The unfaithful spouse. The short cut is guaranteed to end up in a dead end or a very muddy swamp.

No Superstar in business or sport has ever taken the short cut. They know that they have to pay the price. This price is a planned road of discipline and perseverance. This road is often a slow process. The winner that practices harder and stays longer in the game is the person that will receive ultimate success. This success is often an inner spiritual success as well, because you have paid the price.

Picture the right road as the highway, long and winding. The short cut is the "veld" and mountains that surround you. You will be tested on the road as you travel the highway. You will be tempted with signs that offer you an alternative road at much less a distance than that of which you have to cover on the highway. Beware these short cut roads are sand and stone, filled with potholes and swamps. You have a choice which road do you want to travel?

• Act as though it were impossible to fail

• There is no failure except in no longer trying

• We are all a result of the decisions that we have taken

• Use your mistakes as stepping stones not stumbling blocks

• You can accomplish more in one hour with God than one lifetime without Him
