Change your Lifestyle, Change your Life!
Most people think of alcohol or drugs when they hear the word "addiction." The truth is that an addiction can be to anything, even food. Many people struggle with losing weight and that struggle comes to the fact that they are addicted to their bad lifestyle.
Are you Addicted to your Lifestyle?
The first step to breaking any addiction is admitting that you have a problem. In order to do that you have to first find out if you have a problem. There are some things in your life that you can look at to define if you are addicted to your lifestyle.
Think about your past attempts to lose weight. Have you often failed because you fall back into old habits? Have you given up on trying to lose weight or put it off as something to do another day? Do you think trying to lose weight is hopeless or not something you need to do right now because you are not "that" overweight? Have you ever been surprised at the number on the scale or the size of pants you wear because you never realized you were that big?
If you find that you agree with these statements then you are addicted to your lifestyle. You cannot make changes because you are too comfortable with your habits. You cannot lose weight until you start to break your addiction. A bad lifestyle is fun. It can be hard to leave it behind, but if you are serious about losing weight then you need to change your lifestyle.
Changing your Lifestyle for a Weight Loss!
It is hard to break an addiction. First of all you probably do not even recognize your problem until someone else points it out. You also feel stuck and like there is no way out or no way to change.
One of the reasons why change is hard is because you have this addiction to the short term satisfaction you get from your bad habits. However, the long term results are something you will have to recognize if you ever want to break your lifestyle addiction.
It will take more than willpower for you to change. An addiction takes commitment and time to get over. You have to start with stopping the lies you tell yourself. When you slip into a bad habit, admit it is wrong and do not make excuses to yourself.
From there you can begin to make changes. Set yourself up for success. You have to make big changes. You need to change your environment. Surround yourself with healthy foods and with people who support you.
Consider getting a fitness trainer to help you. You need to remove anything that could tempt you to fall back into your old lifestyle and old habits.
You have to find a way to overcome all the excuses that you make. Every change you make will add up.
Changing your lifestyle is never easy or simple. You have to work hard and be dedicated. With commitment you can do it. Eventually, you will find that you are no longer addicted to your lifestyle and you can begin on the path to a healthier, thinner you.
